Biju Joseph Jacob is a passionate techie who works as an Engineering Manager at WhatsApp. He leads the Business Integrity team, focused on preventing harm on the e-commerce, Discovery and Payments pillars.
Prior to this, he led a few teams within the Engineering Platform division at Grab, and previous to that, he was the SE Asia Tech Lead for the Derivatives business at Macquarie Group, working on low-latency market-making systems. He has also previously worked in the algo-trading and high-frequency equity trading team at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Academically, Biju holds a M.Sc. in Software Management at Carnegie Mellon University, USA and a B.Eng. (Hons) degree in Computer Science Engineering (along with minor degrees in Business Studies & Entrepreneurship) from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has completed the Level I CFA exam.
During his free time, Biju relishes experimenting with new technology and frequently works on various small-scale personal tech projects. He is also a bit of an adrenaline junkie – and has done the bungy jump, sky dive, swim with sharks, etc. Outside of working hours, Biju enjoys teaching, speaking at tech events, running, and watching cricket.
