Sumedh Sawant

Hey there! My name is Sumedh. I have ~10 years of experience in software engineering - working as an engineer, tech lead, managing teams and most recently working as an interim CTO at a seed stage startup (Boon). I have a fair amount of product management experience as well, having taken on an unofficial PM role at DoorDash as well as at Boon (seed stage startup).

I'm passionate about coaching and mentoring others - I enjoy helping others in any way I can. I have many years of experience coaching teams as well as a few years of teaching experience as a TA in college. My style is that I'm generally an optimistic person and I enjoy having a collaborative back and forth as we work together :) My aim is to create a collaborative environment where my mentees feel empowered to explore their potential and navigate challenges with confidence, structure and optimism.

Some of my previous work
- Led a complete redesign and re-architecture of Gmail's inbox configurations, which ~100M users use for a productivity hack to organize their email (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLdHnWLbn4A).
- Led engineering marketplace tax compliance infrastructure at DoorDash in order to unlock compliantly selling alcohol ($X million business).
- Led the product and engineering vision for selling Retail goods (as a new vertical) on DoorDash ($X million business) and led the team to build the foundation. The team continues to iterate on this as they unlock more merchants (e.g. electronics, beauty, home goods, petfood, etc.).
